September 1st, 2021: Wahed Inc. (‘Wahed’), the leading halal fintech company announced Jon Xu joining the Board of Directors.

Jon Xu brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously, Xu co-founded and was the Chief Technology Officer of FutureAdvisor, part of the first wave of robo-advisor solutions to make high-quality investment management available to everyone. FutureAdvisor was acquired by BlackRock in 2015, where Jon continued to lead product design and engineering as Managing Director in the Aladdin Wealth Group.

Xu said: “I’ve long been a believer that intelligent financial services that give the best financial outcomes should be available to everyone. The technology we built at FutureAdvisor, among other robo-advisors of the last decade, was just the beginning. I am incredibly excited about what the team is building at Wahed Invest. Wahed is truly delivering intelligent financial outcomes to a global customer community. This is a journey that I’m very proud to be a part of and look forward to its growth.”

Xu joining, signals a leap forward in Wahed’s expansion plans and its ambition to become the leading ethical and values-based financial products and services provider. Commenting on the appointments, Junaid Wahednasaid: “We are thrilled to welcome Jon on board this journey as we take Wahed to the next level of growth”.

Launched in 2017, Wahed delivers through its affiliated entities financial investment services for those looking for ethical and social impact investment options. The firm successfully balances moral responsibility and modern investment theory when making investment choices, ensuring that its portfolios are not invested in companies that deal in restricted sectors, including gambling, firearms and alcohol.
